As we start the fall 2011 nursing programs at Beckfield College the new round of students sitting in the classrooms are definitely a different composition than we have ever seen before.
As the healthcare career field continues to grow, the increasing job opportunities for Coding and Billing Specialists, Medical Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses and Registered Nurses with their Bachelor’s Degree are especially on the rise.

100% of Beckfield College’s first Practical Nursing class passed the NCLEX-PN Licensure Examination upon first try. Wow! I can’t tell you how proud this statistic makes me as the Dean of Nursing at Beckfield College. A perfect pass rate won’t last forever, but this benchmark is evidence of a challenging curriculum and engaged students who want to thrive in nursing.

As the Dean of Nursing, I welcome new nursing students to our programs at Beckfield College during two of our four terms each year. To ensure I get to know each and every student, I teach the first nursing class. I don’t make things easy for them, as every quarter in the program continues to escalate in difficulty and intensity. I disclose to them how challenging it is going to be while learning about each student’s ambitions and any personal experiences that led them to the profession of nursing.
