Let’s talk about communication.   Why? Excellent question.

( 6DGKFZKFB3UC ) The call to serve our country is strong. I should know. I served on the USS Spruance as Signalman in the US Navy from 1994 to 1996, as well as in the inactive ready reserve through 2002. In my current profession as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Beckfield College in Greater Cincinnati, I have the privilege to also serve as the College’s VA Certifying Official. In this capacity, I help guide fellow veterans with their utilization of the educational benefits available to veterans from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). 

I have several IT friends who, over the years, have battled with various operating systems. Their challenges generally led to Microsoft alternatives. In most cases, I understand their perspectives on Industry Standards versus created corporate standards that Microsoft tends to “re-develop.” Their view reflects the myopic way Microsoft does business. The consensus for most IT personnel is that the operator should have more control over their system than is typically provided by Microsoft.

This absolutely true story about a dedicated student is the motivation and theme behind what make Beckfield College so special: helping devoted students who want to be taught. It was a pivotal experience for those of us her worked here while she was a student.

Forensic science, which is known as the application of science to the law, is used in crime laboratories worldwide. Forensic science has a tendency to find itself as the center of attention throughout our Nation; and not just the starring role of the hit Television show, “CSI.” From great advances to devastating criticisms, forensic science has built itself an identity throughout the law enforcement community.

Microsoft Corporation has always had to deal with problems with malware or bots that install on a user’s computer. They have recently cracked down on the malware giant Waledac. (see Microsoft blog for further detail .) Microsoft is a founding member of the Botnet Task Force, a public-private partnership to join industry and government in the fight against bots. This group has “executed a major botnet takedown of Waledac, a large and well-known “spambot,”” according to the Microsoft Blog Post. The Wall Street Journal has a story on the case (WSJ subscription required).
