Let’s talk about communication. Why? Excellent question.
Good communication skills are essential in our day to day life with family and friends, but it is critical at work. Communication is a skill that needs to be worked on, improved upon, and worthy of our attention. Your current and future employers demand you have it.
Let’s face it, even though words come out of your mouth, does NOT mean that people hear your message. Since we attempt to communicate every day, shouldn’t we understand a little bit about the process?

Google, huh, what is it good for? Absolutely everything!
On August 19th 2004, Google became an official IPO (Initial Public Offering) on the NADAQ stock exchange. The first trade was $100.01. The stock as of close on June 14 th 2010 was $483.19. The high for Google was $629.51 over the last year. The daily average stock volume traded over 50 days up to June 14 th was 3,876,462 shares. And Google has an estimated market value of $ 117,854,065,980.00 as of June 14 th. (This does not include stock splits comparing today’s values) (See NASDAQ quote for Google here)

I served on the USS Spruance as Signalman in the US Navy from 1994 to 1996, as well as in the inactive ready reserve through 2002. In my current profession as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Beckfield College in Greater Cincinnati, I have the privilege to also serve as the College’s VA Certifying Official. I have several IT friends who, over the years, have battled with various operating systems. Their challenges generally led to Microsoft alternatives. In most cases, I understand their perspectives on Industry Standards versus created corporate standards that Microsoft tends to “re-develop.” Their view reflects the myopic way Microsoft does business. The consensus for most IT personnel is that the operator should have more control over their system than is typically provided by Microsoft.

Microsoft Corporation has always had to deal with problems with malware or bots that install on a user’s computer. They have recently cracked down on the malware giant Waledac. (see Microsoft blog for further detail .) Microsoft is a founding member of the Botnet Task Force, a public-private partnership to join industry and government in the fight against bots. This group has “executed a major botnet takedown of Waledac, a large and well-known “spambot,”” according to the Microsoft Blog Post. The Wall Street Journal has a story on the case (WSJ subscription required).
