I served on the USS Spruance as Signalman in the US Navy from 1994 to 1996, as well as in the inactive ready reserve through 2002. In my current profession as the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Beckfield College in Greater Cincinnati, I have the privilege to also serve as the College’s VA Certifying Official. In this capacity, I help guide fellow veterans with their utilization of the educational benefits available to veterans from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Today we find ourselves in a time of economic instability and drastic change. Some are seeking education to begin a new career. Others are seeking alternative applications for their skill sets, while everyone is making due with less. Regardless, staying positive and putting together strategies to succeed is important to all of us. At Beckfield College, we actually teach a course on this subject to help people prepare for their new futures, but the philosophies can be applicable for anyone.
