Student-Focused Approach at Beckfield’s Tri-County Campus Initiates Expansion

Florence, KY (July 6, 2011) Happy and fulfilled college students excited about  learning and being challenged are having a major impact on Beckfield College’s Tri-County Campus in Springdale, Ohio.  Since the College opened its doors in Ohio in 2009, the campus has grown from 15 students to more than 400 students.   The campus growth is directly attributed to student satisfaction, as more than 20% of the growth represents referrals of family and friends from current students.

“I carefully examined several other colleges before choosing Beckfield.  It was hard enough to go back to school after twenty plus years, and Beckfield made me feel secure and right at home,” explained Paralegal student Valerie Mann.  “My goal is to graduate with honors, obtain a position at a qualified firm, and still be a part of Beckfield.”

The student population reflects a culturally diverse group, trending 60% female and includes many who are the first degree seeking members of their family.  Because Beckfield College has always understand that their student body includes many working adults and parents, first-time college students, and individuals retraining in new fields, personalized focus and attention is a priority.  In response, Beckfield College has added and enhanced key administrative and academic roles at the campus to meet student needs, as well as expanded academic offerings.

Edward Rito has joined Beckfield College as the Tri-County Campus Director, replacing Keith Grant who transferred to become the Campus Director at the College headquarters in Florence, Kentucky.  Rito joins Beckfield with vast experience in higher education, having directed college campuses in Colorado Springs, Colorado and Richmond, Virginia.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Beckfield tradition, focusing on academic excellence and positive outcomes for students from all types of backgrounds with one consistent goal:  success upon graduation!” commented Rito.

Brittaney Harp (east side Cincinnati resident) has added Tri-County Campus Deant o her existing role of General Education Dean for the campus.  Her throrough approach to balancing the academic needs of students and instructors, coupled with experience working with adult learners will positively complement the administrative and academic leadership at the campus.

Due to tremendous growth at the campus, current General Education instructor Wade Black (resident of Franklin, Ohio) has been appointed to Lead Instructor of General Education and will also tailor his efforts to teaching extra seminars, providing counseling, study skills training and other value added curriculum to ensure new students have every advantage they need to adjust to school and the expectations associated with their field of choice.

Melvin Hollis, LMT, CMT (Bond Hill resident) has been appointed Program Coordinator of Medical Massage Therapy and Advanced Personal Training at the Tri-County Campus.  Both programs begin classes this summer.  Hollis has worked in both the academic sector and private sector of massage therapy, still active in the field providing massage services for clients.  Is also certified in CORE Myofascial Therapy and has been a therapist for NFL players and other sporting professionals.

Diane Benedict has been appointed as the Associate Dean of Nursing at the Tri-County Campus.  Long known for its rigorous and intensive nursing programs at Beckfield College’s Florence Campus, the Practical Nursing program begins in July 2011 and an LPN to RN bridge program later this year.   Nearly 20 men and women are beginning this program in July.
