Beckfield College Commencement Highlighted with 150 Graduates & Business Leader Rod Robinson
The pinnacle of any student’s academic career is achieved when he or she crosses the stage at graduation and receives a diploma. More than 150 of Beckfield College’s graduates from the last four academic terms will experience this highlight this Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center at 2:00 p.m. Rod Robinson, CEO of connXus.com, will be the commencement speaker.
“Our goal from the minute a student first walks through our doors is to help them identify their dreams and give them every possible tool to achieve program completion and move into their choice career,” described Diane Wolfer, president of Beckfield College. “Commencement is the start of realizing hopes and dreams. Students, staff and faculty are all partners in these dreams, so we’re all thrilled to see this day come to fruition for so many!”
Rod Robinson couldn’t be a better fit to inspire these graduates, many of whom are first in their family to attend a post-secondary school, are on a second career, or who are taking on the academic challenge late in life while managing many life responsibilities.
Robinson grew up surrounded by a family of educators and entrepreneurs that taught him both the value of education and the importance of hard work and independence early on in life. The lessons he learned inspired him to leave the comfortable confines of a successful corporate career to found two businesses. Rod established management consulting firm Accel Advisors in 2005. Accel works with Fortune 1000 companies to improve or create strategic sourcing and supplier diversity programs, which result in measurable cost reductions and profit improvement.
His experiences on both the corporate and consulting sides of the procurement function led him to create connXus.com in February 2011. connXus.com is an online service that revolutionizes supplier diversity by making it easy and affordable for corporations to locate, evaluate and engage performance-rated small, minority- or woman-owned businesses.
