NEWS RELEASE

Pete Minor Memorialized at Beckfield College Music Event

Florence, Kentucky (August 9, 2011) From every tragedy there is a phoenix that rises, bringing new life.  Greater Cincinnati experienced the tragedy on April 8, 2011 when Pete Minor was struck and killed in a hit and run accident as he was changing his tire on the highway on his way to work.   Minor will be forever be remembered as a tree is planted in his honor and the auditorium at Beckfield College where he worked will be named the “Pete Minor Memorial Auditorium” on August 20 at 5:00 p.m.

Minor’s family, Beckfield College, and the many members of the Greater Cincinnati community who were touched by Minor during his career and his time as a parent and a coach were shocked at the loss.   This idea was generated by his many colleagues at Beckfield College who feel his loss daily.  Minor’s name plate still holds its place in front of his office at the College. Minor’s family will be at the memorial activities.

“It was a blessing to have worked with Pete.  His smile, work ethic and attention to detail are missed by everyone here at Beckfield College,” explained Diane Wolfer, president of Beckfield College.  “It’s an honor to be able to remember him in a way that his family and our staff and students can see each and every day.”

The memorial will take place prior to the Inaugural Beckfield Talent Showcase at the College’s main campus in Florence, Kentucky.  Beckfield College has a deep musical talent pool within the staff and faculty, with a line up including Hamilton Municipal Court Hon. Daniel J. Gattermeyer, Jerry Linger, Dean of Paralegal Studies at the College and his band The GearShifts Blues Band, and area banker Mark Yelton, among many other singing and musical talents.  The event, sponsored by Willis Music, is open to the public and will serve as a benefit to the Beckfield Student Paralegal Association’s charitable efforts.

The event will be held at Beckfield College, Florence Campus at 10 Spiral Drive, Florence, Kentucky, behind Sam’s Club.
