What payment options are available to you?
When trying to figure out the best way to pay for your education, it's easy to get
bogged down researching the various government and private loans, grants, and scholarships available to
you.
At Beckfield College, we know it can be frustrating so that's why we have Financial
Aid officers available to answer your questions and walk you through the process.
What is the Beckfield College Financial Aid Process?
We like to keep the financial aid process easy, so there are only three steps involved.
Step 1 Work with a Beckfield College Admissions Representative
- Personal Interview
- Tour Campus
- Complete Enrollment Application
Step 2 Speak with a Financial Aid Representative
Why burden yourself searching for loans and grants? Our experienced Financial Aid Representatives will
assist you in the entire application process.
Step 3 Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The FAFSA opens the door to such aid as the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Family Education Loan
Program (Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans and Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students
-PLUS loans) as well as the state of Kentucky's grant and scholarship
programs.
Pat, Cheryl, Debby, Cathy and Andrew will assist you in completing your FAFSA and help you choose the best
options to fund your education. Our Financial Aid Representatives will not only provide you
with the appropriate applications and deadline information for these loans and grants, they will walk you
through the financial aid process, step-by-step.
Federal Student Loans and Grants
FEDERAL PELL GRANT
The Pell Grant does not require repayment. Eligibility is based on a student's
educational financial need with a maximum award of $4,050 per year.
FEDERAL STAFFORD LOAN
The Federal Stafford Loan may be obtained through participating lending institutions. If eligible,
DEPENDENT STUDENTS may borrow up to a maximum of $2,625 per year to apply to their training. INDEPENDENT
STUDENTS (self-supporting) may borrow up to a maximum of $6,625 per year to apply to educational costs. The
Federal Stafford Loan is repaid in monthly installments, with interest, starting six months after your last
day of attendance.
FEDERAL PLUS LOAN (PLUS)
The "PLUS" loan is available to parents in assisting dependent students with the cost of education. The
maximum loan is the student's cost of attendance, less other financial aid. A "PLUS"
loan may be obtained through participating lenders. Repayment of this loan begins within 30 days of
issuance and is repaid with interest.
State Grants and Scholarships (CAP and KEES)
KENTUCKY CAP GRANT (CAP)
Federal PELL grant recipients may be eligible for Kentucky's CAP grant.
Eligible programs of study, deadline dates, and residency requirements apply to this award.
KEES SCHOLARSHIP (KEES)
KEES scholarships are awarded to eligible Kentucky high school graduates. If eligible, this
scholarship may be used for up to 5 years from graduation if the student maintains an eligible cumulative
grade point average (gpa).
Other Opportunities for Financial Assistance
WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT (WIA)
If you are "unemployed" or "underemployed," you may be eligible to receive a training fund voucher to
reduce your educational costs.
VETERAN'S (VA) BENEFITS
Beckfield College is approved to accept students eligible to receive Veteran's Administration Educational
Benefits.
ALTERNATIVE LOANS
Beckfield College offers a variety of private loan programs to assist in your educational
needs. Please see your Financial Aid Representative to apply.
All Students please bring:
- A signed copy of your and your spouse's 2006 Federal Income Tax Return
(1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 or Telefile). 2007-2008 FAFSA
- A signed copy of your and your spouse's 2007 Federal Income Tax Return
(1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 or Telefile). 2008-2009 FAFSA
*If a copy of your tax return is unavailable, we will accept an IRS form that lists tax account
information. Call (800)829-1040 to request your tax transcript. If you have not yet filed your 2007
taxes, please provide copies of W-2s for 2007.
- Two (2) personal references with complete address and phone number.
Dependent Students
In addition to the items listed above, dependent students are requested to bring at least one parent to
the financial aid appointment and to submit:
- A signed copy of your PARENTS' 2006 Federal Income Tax Return (1040EZ,
1040A, 1040 or Telefile). 2007-2008 FAFSA
- A signed copy of your PARENTS' 2007 Federal Income Tax Return (1040EZ,
1040A, 1040 or Telefile). 2008-2009 FAFSA
Transfer Students Who have Already Completed a FAFSA
If you have already completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), please bring the
following information with you to your financial aid appointment:
- A copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) for: 2007-08 / 2008-09
- DRN number from your Student Aid Report to request a duplicate Student Aid Report (SAR); or you
may use your PIN number to add our school code to your SAR.
FINANCIAL AID UPDATE!
President Bush recently signed a bill that increase student eligibility limits for the Unsubsidized Stafford Loan program. This bill also increases the aggregate maximum eligibility loan amount.
The increase for each quarter is an estimated average of $444 to $667 in additional funds.
If you have not yet met with the financial aid office but are interested in applying for these additional funds, please respond to this e-mail. We will then review your financial aid eligibility for the additional funds. PLEASE NOTE: This loan increase becomes effective for loans disbursed after July 1, 2008, so YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE APPLIED FOR THE 2008-09 FAFSA to be eligible. Also, you may be required to complete a new Master Promissory Note to complete your application.
