Financial aid can include grants, scholarships, federal student loans, parent loans, veteran education benefits, and other resources. The Student Financial Services team can help you understand which options may apply to your program, enrollment status, and eligibility.

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Eligibility, award amounts, and continued eligibility requirements vary by program, funding source, enrollment status, academic progress, and applicable federal, state, and institutional policies.

Financial Aid Options

Explore ways students may help pay for college

The right financial plan may combine more than one resource. Beckfield’s Student Financial Services team can help you review available options and understand next steps.

Grants

Grants are different from loans because they generally do not have to be repaid when all eligibility and continued eligibility requirements are met. Beckfield participates in federal and state grant programs, including the Federal Pell Grant Program.

Loans

Federal Direct Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, and private loans may help eligible students and families cover education expenses. Loans must be repaid, and students should review all terms carefully before borrowing.

Grants

Grant options may help reduce out-of-pocket education costs

Grants may be awarded by federal or state agencies and are usually based on eligibility factors such as financial need, residency, enrollment status, program type, and satisfactory academic progress.

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant is a need-based grant program for eligible undergraduate students. Students must complete the FAFSA to be considered.

Kentucky College Access Program Grant

The Kentucky CAP Grant may help eligible Kentucky residents with financial need attend eligible colleges. Students should complete the FAFSA early because funding may be limited.

Loans

Understand loan options before you borrow

Student and parent loans can be helpful tools, but they are borrowed funds that must be repaid. The Student Financial Services team can help explain the differences between loan types and repayment responsibilities.

Direct Subsidized Loans

Available to eligible students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Interest benefits may apply while enrolled at least half-time.

Direct Unsubsidized Loans

Available to eligible students regardless of financial need. Interest begins accruing when the loan is disbursed, and the borrower is responsible for the interest.

Parent PLUS & Private Loans

Parent PLUS Loans may be available to eligible parents of dependent undergraduate students. Private loans vary by lender, credit requirements, interest rate, and repayment terms.
