1) Opportunity to participate as an online or on-campus student with a Medical Billing and Coding curriculum that is relevant and in-depth to meet in-field needs for this growing complex industry.  Beckfield College’s program offers students advanced studies into the world of healthcare medical billing and coding and the administration of both, including advanced medical billing and coding, hospital coding, and medical records auditing.  The changes in healthcare have a direct correlation to this industry and those better armed with information through education will success in the field.

3) Ever hear of ICD-10-CM?  If you are considering a career in this industry, this subject needs to play a role in your education.   ICD stands for the International Classification of Diseases, and its codes hold critical information about epidemiology, managing health, and treating conditions.  ICD-10 is an updated version of a very comprehensive set of diagnostic and insurance billing codes .  See the FAQ from the AAFP about ICD-10.  Good, detailed and advanced coders will be needed in the field for successful execution of ICD-10, which currently has an implementation deadline of October 2015.
