Beckfield College’s Phi Beta Lambda Business Students Score Big at State Conference
Beckfield College’s Phi Beta Lambda, our student business organization, attended the annual Kentucky State Leadership Conference March 20 – 21, 2015. Hosted this year at the University of Pikeville, in Pikeville, Kentucky, the conference drew 115 participants from thirteen colleges. Our local chapter entered seven of the fifty-five sponsored competitions. For the second year in a row, Beckfield PBL brought home the gold! They earned six first place awards and one third place award!

In addition, Devin Allmoslecher, local chapter Vice President, was elected to state office for the second consecutive year. Devin is the 2014-2015 Kentucky State Co-Parliamentarian, and he will serve as the 2015-2016 State Reporter.
In addition to the competitions, the conference featured workshops on topics including International Trade, Conflict Resolution, and Cloud Computing. The Phi Beta Lambda events offer excellent opportunities for our future leaders to network and to develop their professional skills.
Ed Villaverde, PBL chapter President and team leader, said “I was happy to represent Beckfield College for a second year in a row. This experience has made me more confident in myself and the education I am receiving.”
The team will be attending the national conference in Chicago in June. Last year’s team placed in the top 10 in each of their national entries. We know they will continue the tradition of excellence this year!
